Falcarragh Reunion

2009 saw the first An Fál Carrach Le Chéile - Falcarragh Reunion weekend festival. Inspired by a local school reunion two years ago at Ballyboes National School, a committee was formed and preparations began on planning the festival's events.

Committee members Seamus Doohan, Mary McGarvey, Seamus McGee, Manus Kelly & Patrick McGinley put out a call for community members to dig deeply into their memories and photo albums, and Seamus Doohan of the committee had the painstaking but beautifully rewarding task of compiling a visual archive.

Local student Lee Fleck lent his expertise in producing an informative and delightful DVD which was launched on the opening night also.

Almost a year of hard work went into creating the hugely important archive; forever preserving the days of times past in the minds of those here today. Community members of all ages have delighted at the exhibition in the downstairs gallery, and screening of the DVD upstairs.

A call for work was also put out to artists both amateur and trained from or living in the area. An Gailearaí are exhibiting these works - which continue in an tSean Bheairic.

So popular is the show that it has been extended until the 20th June 2009.
